Fun on the Farm

I am getting so close to catching you all up to present-day! I had hoped to get there this weekend, but my body had other plans as I was busy trying to fight the flu. I'm still not recouped 100% and plan to see the doctor tomorrow, but I do feel like blogging, so that's a good sign!

OSU's fall break was the same weekend as homecoming, but fortunately, Asher's fall break was the weekend before, so I got to tag along with Mom, Dad, Stacy and the kids to Kansas. We found out shortly before leaving that Regina's clan wouldn't be there because Haley made it to state in tennis! We were sad not to see them but very excited for Haley.

So I took off early on Thursday and we headed to the farm.

Quinn is not a napper, so we weren't sure how she'd do on the trip. It turns out she did GREAT. Stacy did have a full-time job keeping her entertained, but she's easy to please. Asher on the other hand, didn't appreciate losing service on his iPad. I tried to tell him stories about the days when we didn't have iPads, but he preferred Pokemon stories.

She sure was a happy girl when we got there!

And it took Asher no time at all to find his favorite book. He spent the rest of the weekend pretending to be a red-tailed hawk.

These two love each other so much!

But that love can be a little smothering at times. There was a whole lot of tackling going on.

We walked to the mailbox with Mom and Grandma, and Asher uncovered Grandpa's old resting log. It was hidden in the weeds but made a perfect perch for the hawk.

Then it was time for a little pear picking.

Quinn was worn out by this time. The girl wouldn't quit taking her socks off, so we finally gave up.  Thank goodness the weather was nice that day.

We got home-grown pumpkins again this year.

Quinn wishes she could get around as easy as her big brother.

A little block building with the great grandparents before nap time.

Then it was time for one of our favorite Kansas traditions, weenie roasting! Asher's fire breathing Pokemon came out to help start the fire.

And Gary perfected roasting a brat over an open flame.

What better to work off your dinner than a little hay bail running. I got the iPhone 6, so we tried out the time lapse feature and Asher got a kick out of it.

Contemplating the origin of the universe...or more likely the origin of mega-evolved Pokemon.

All good things must come to an end.

Asher loves to carry Quinn around by locking his arms under hers. It always looks so uncomfortable for poor Quinnie.

On Saturday, Janet, Krista, Landon and Levi came. Asher and Quinn were in heaven. Q got lots of kisses from Landon it was pretty adorable to watch.

Levi and Landon do their fair share of tackling, too, so at least it's not just Asher. Those poor younger siblings! I feel their pain. I believe there's a picture of me screaming in the bottom drawer of a dresser while Mom photographs Stacy's handywork somewhere.

Then it was time for the boys to take on someone their own size with a little indoor football.

Eventually they moved the party outside.

Quinn was pleased with the change in scenery, and it looks like Stacy was able to slip a bow in her hair while she wasn't looking. She will not keep a headband on these days, and if she realizes there's a bow in her hair, she pulls it out. We may have a tomboy on our hands...

Then the Morrisons picked out a few pumpkins to take on the road with them.

The boys squeezed in a quick game of Who Shook Hook during snack time.

The little ones had a field day with puffs. They just couldn't get enough. Uncle Greg tried some but didn't see what all the fuss was about. I'm sure that didn't win him any points with Quinn. She was very uneasy with Greg this trip and would cry if he looked at her. I told him Kyle knows how that feels!

And then there was one last chance to run out their energy in cow chute before getting in the car to head home. Dad couldn't find someone to teach his Sunday school class, so we headed back Saturday afternoon. And this is what I came home to...
