Like Sands Through the Hour Glass...

Image
In the past few weeks, I’ve gotten to see some of my old high school friends at wedding showers and dinners. It’s been so much fun reconnecting, but it’s obvious that life is different than it was before. We used to sit around and day dream about Coach Esau (OK, so that was mainly me), but now we are talking about babies, mothers-in-law, house remodels and coupon clipping. It’s an interesting change, but I really enjoy finding out who everyone is growing up to be. The soon-to-be Mrs. Jessica Wilson and I got to meet up for dinner finally. Fun times! In other news, my low of the week was trying to pick out a new front door. Who knew there would be so many details to work out?! We need one really badly, not only because our current one looks less than appealing, but it also doesn’t latch right and has been a problem since we moved in. I’m not good at making decisions like this and I never have enjoyed it. The problem is that I get buyer’s remorse so big purchases are never a fun thing fo

Spring Break

Image
Contrary to popular belief, the OSU Foundation is not closed during spring break. In fact, we are open on most of the university-specific holidays. However, I was fortunate to be able to take 1 1/2 days off to spend a little time with the family during their break. My parents, Zach, Stacy and Asher had planned to visit my Donahue grandparents in Kansas, so I decided to tag along. Poor Kyle had to work, but he also got to spend the weekend with Greg and Stacie. They took him to a Thunder game and then out for golf on Saturday. They also found some basketball video game Greg and Kyle used to play as kids so that entertained them for most of Saturday evening. Stacie sent me this photo. They won with a dunk during the final seconds of the game. I think they're excited! :) Back on the farm, we got to spend a little time with Landon, who is now 6 months old. It's hard to believe how big his is! He is even sitting up on his own. Asher did pretty good with him although he did unintenti

Baby Shopping

I am really crunched for time this afternoon, but I wanted to post before taking a mini spring break trip, which I'll fill you in on next week. Last weekend I headed to Wichita with Kyle's mom so we could meet up with my sisters-in-law and go shopping for Jerilyn's birthday. We used to do things together more frequently, but it seems like it's been a while since the four of us have been in the same place at the same time. Not intentionally of course, but life just gets in the way. We had so much fun! We got a little distracted at the party store looking for baby shower stuff. My favorite part, besides getting to see Jerilyn in maternity clothes, was looking at things for Conner, my new nephew! A few days before my birthday, we found out that Ben and Jerilyn are having a boy. Kyle and I are so excited to meet the little guy sometime in August! One of the possible choices for Conner's bedding. Stacie was busy making a baby shower cake the night before, and it was just

Happy Birthday to Me

Image
I turned 25 on Saturday. Birthdays aren't near as much fun as they were when I was little, but I still had a pretty great day. And the celebration continues! I've now had three birthday lunches, one party with the family and have two birthday dinners yet to come. I'm not used to all of this attention! My grammatically incorrect birthday cookie. Such a cheese ball these days. Asher loves his binky. He now only gets it when he naps and rides in the car, so he cherishes those moments. I guess one isn't enough. He got to play a game with us and loved playing with his "monies." Ty got a grill for his birthday and Asher wanted to help put it together. We are moving on up! Josh graduated from the deck to the garage. I bet he can't wait until he has an actual barber shop to work in! We were in Hennessey celebrating this weekend and we watched some old family videos of Christmases and birthdays past. It was fun to see how much everyone has changed since the early

Sports and the Sheen Machine

For someone who is not a sports fan, it seems like much of our activities lately have revolved around them, but I'm not complaining. We've had a lot of fun! In the past few weeks Kyle has been experimenting with his dirt bike. I know, I know, I've told him it's dangerous but he loves it, and does not listen. That might be unfair, I think he listens, he just doesn't agree with me. At the end of the day, I want him to have a hobby he enjoys and this time around he is taking all necessary safety precautions (wearing a helmet, etc.) so I guess I'm just going to have to get used to it. He is so happy to be out riding on such a nice day. Getting some air. Let's hope that's as high as he ever goes! :) We are also in the middle of Orange Crush volleyball, the Foundation's rec league team. We have a lot of fun, but winning is not our strong suit. We've won only one practice game and lost all of our regular season games so far. But it's not about winni
