Aged to Perfection

Hennessey's annual Wine and Chocolate Festival just so happened to fall on Dad's birthday this year, which was perfect timing. I hitched a ride to Hennessey with Kim and Trey so I didn't have to miss the festival. Unfortunately, Dad and several others found out earlier that day they wouldn't be able to participate due to some ABLE Commission regulations. (Why do they have to spoil all the fun?) So instead, Dad got to sample wines with the rest of us spectators.

Before the wine festival, I got roped into helping Mom and Stacy unload pumpkins for the Library's pumpkin patch. This picture was taken pretty early on, and there were a lot more pumpkins than those pictured here. It was hot, dirty and itchy but didn't take too long with us all working together. The next time you are driving through Hennessey, you should stop to check it out. It's right on Main Street.

I had fun hanging out with these two cuties at the wine festival.

Since we were in town, Dad decided he'd like us all to drive over to Roman Nose on Sunday for a little birthday lunch and some stream walking. The weather was absolutely gorgeous! I was afraid the stream would be too cold, but it wasn't all that bad once you got used to it. Overall it turned out to be a pretty great weekend celebrating Dad.

Asher rode to Roman Nose with us. The whole way there, we talked Pokemon, which is his current obsession. He wanted to play a game where he named one and then I named one, but that lasted all of two seconds because Pikachu is pretty much  the only Pokemon I know. Thanks to Kyle's driving, we got there earlier than everyone else so the boys had some time to climb on the sign while we waited for the others.

It's very hard to get a picture of Quinn these days without something in her mouth.

Ready for a fun afternoon! Yes, that is a cigar in Kyle's hand. He and Josh each enjoyed one after lunch. Michal would be so jealous! :)

Asher doesn't like being lifted on someone's shoulders, but let him climb, and he will go as high as he can.

As the water got higher, Asher was freezing, but he insisted on making it to the waterfall.

Quinn got her first dip in the water and didn't seem to mind the temperature.

Leave it to Kyle to find out how to get up there. Asher had to follow him, of course.

Quinn spent most of her time with Stacy and Mom, and she did great. She was a happy camper all day long.

Dad played the role of nature guide, pointing out the different trees to Asher. The other kids overheard him and came to ask questions.

They love spending time with Grandpa and Mamo!

 Such a precious little family.

Us girls called it quits and let the boys navigate the murkier parts of the stream filled with all kinds of goodies like spiders, frogs and wasps.

Then we were back at base camp and ready to hit the road.

Unfortunately the trailer had a flat, but it only took the boys a few minutes to get us fixed up and back on the road.
