Where I Come From

Almost two weeks ago we got together to celebrate Mom's birthday. How lucky we are to have her! She is one of the most selfless people I know, and my goal in life is to be more like her. There are a lot of kind people in this world, but Mom is in a different class. I don't believe I've ever met anyone who didn't have positive things to say about her. I am so thankful to have been raised by someone of great integrity who has a servant's heart and loves the Lord. I pray we get to celebrate many, many more birthdays with her!

That weekend also happened to be Pat Hennessey weekend, so I went down early on Saturday to enjoy the festivities with Asher and Quinn. I have vague memories of Pat Hennessey Day in the past, so it was nice to relive some of those. However, the stifling heat made me more than ready to leave downtown and hit the pool.

 Just your usual traffic jam.

Miss Quinn looked awful happy to be at the parade.

The little cowboys sat on the curb to get the best selection of candy.

After the parade, we headed over to the money mound so the kids could dig for treasure.

It was basically just a big pile of sand with coins hidden in it. Asher walked away with a whopping $1.35.

After winning a stuffed horse, playing on the inflatables and watching a gun fight in the park, it was time for the stick horse race.

Lined up and ready to race!

After the race, Asher said he couldn't run that fast in his boots. I tried to make him feel better by telling him he did good and even got a ribbon. His response was, "Aunt Abby, everybody got a ribbon." Glad to see those participation prizes aren't going to his head.

That evening was the rodeo. The rest of us opted to skip out, but Josh and Asher had a great time. Asher even got to ride a horse! He was really worn out from the day, though, and he ended up falling asleep in the stands, so they had to come home right as the bulls were coming out.

 Quinn was worn out, too!

 The fun continued on Sunday.

Have I mentioned this little one can CRAWL?! Stacy called a few weeks ago and said she was crawling all over the house. She is even pulling up on things. Such a big girl! I'll have to get a video of it next time.

 Horsing around.

Kyle and Quinn had some bonding time this trip. Instead of crying when he made faces at her, she just smiled from ear to ear.

Back at the pool and this time Blair and Fenley were there!

Quinn had fun splashing in the water but lost patience after a while. She and daddy decided to nap instead.
