The Deer Hunters

It is really hard to believe, but Zach's time in California is coming to a close. He'll graduate in February and head to Texas for the next stop on his journey. While we always planned to see him over Christmas, I was happy to hear he could make a trip over Presidents' Day Weekend as well. He was very clear about the purpose of his trip - deer hunting. Luckily for us, the time had changed, so even though he went out nearly every morning and night, we still had plenty of time in the afternoon and evening to spend with him. Saying goodbye this time was much easier knowing that we'd see him in one month vs. five.

Uncle and Grandpa needed to stop by Bass Pro after we got done at the airport. Asher LOVED that store and kept pretending to shoot the stuffed/mounted animal with a pop gun we found in one of the aisles.

Then he WAS the animal and Zach got to practice his hunting skills.

On the way to the City Asher decided that we were going to make sugar cookies when we got home. He assigned everyone a task and then he "helped" us all. I think his favorite job was helping Mom with the flour, which basically meant dumping as much of it as he could onto the cutting board/counter.

After helping Daddy with the frosting, it was time to put on the sprinkles with Grandpa.

 Black frosting = colored tongue

Mom got to teach Zach her new favorite card game, golf. Luckily Zach had played it before and had some new rules that ultimately led to my victory!

There was no deer for Zach this time, but Dad got one and Asher was memorized!  He loves animals more than anything, but he's been really into hunting lately. He plays Big Game Hunter on Mommy's phone and in real life when he can rope one of us into being the hunter.

He was very nervous to get too close to it, but he built up a little courage as time went on. Luckily he had his boots on that day. If only they were camo...
