Alternate Universe
This week has been extremely out of the ordinary. I suppose it started last Saturday, when Kim, Krissi and I got to visit the Hard Rock Casino in Catoosa to see Craig Ferguson. It was a college dream come true! Kim and I used to stay up and watch his show regularly when we lived together at the Reserve. What great times those were! It was strange seeing him in person, but he was as funny as ever, and I really enjoyed myself. (His Scottish accent cracks me up, especially when he says "Catoosa"! Maybe you just had to be there.) On the way home, I also discovered that they have milkshake machines in gas stations now. Who knew?! Of course I had to get one and it was delicious!
The weirdness continued on Sunday when I decided to let Kyle enjoy the Thunder game while I read a book. I'm not fan of reading and typically I have a hard time curling up with a book for hours on end. It's like my attention span is too short or something. However, this week was different. I started Lisa Ling's book "Somewhere Inside." I am only about halfway through, but I am really enjoying it, and I can't wait to finish!
That evening, as we were turning on the news, we discovered that Osama Bin Laden had been killed. I checked Twitter and Facebook and watched a few reports about the spontaneous celebrations going on all over. It seemed a little odd to me that there was so much rejoicing over the killing of someone. It just seems so contrary to the way we usually receive that news like that. I know he caused so much pain and suffering in the lives of others, and I am definitely reveled he is no longer with us, but it was hard for me to celebrate something like that.
On Monday, I was excited because Mom, Stacy and Asher were coming to town and might stop by my office. Stacy had taken the day off work so they could go to the zoo, but Asher woke up in the middle of the night with a fever, so they canceled the zoo and made an appointment with his doctor in Stillwater. It's hard to believe this, but on Monday he turned 19 months old and this was the first time he'd ever been sick. Pretty good if you ask me!
Plans changed when something peculiar happened to Asher before they made it to the doctor's office. No one is positive, but the doctors think he may have had a febrile seizure and had to be taken by ambulance to the Stillwater Hospital. Thankfully these seizures don't pose any danger to children and Asher seems to be doing fine now. He does have a virus, which is what caused the fever, but it should be gone in a day or so.
They actually ended up staying the night with Kyle and I since Asher had a follow-up appointment on Tuesday. It was extremely scary for all involved and I hope it never happens again, but it was very nice to have them here. I even got to go into work a little late so I could spend some more time with them.
Today we had a salsa dancing party at work. Don't worry, you read that right. Totally strange, huh? Since when did I move to Mexico?
All this weirdness is enough for me. Hopefully what's left of the week will be relatively normal...

I bought a few bath toys in case Asher ever came over to spend the night with us. Figures that he'd be more impressed with the cup than the toys!
