A month and counting...
Well we've made it through our first month (and then some) with Oliver. Weeks 1-3 were rough but the last few weeks have gone SO much better. It really is like night and day. We finally found a way to rig his crate so he won't escape during the day. That's not to say he hasn't tried a few times, but fortunately they were unsuccessful attempts.
I have done a great job documenting the frustrations and hiccups of our dog owning experience so far, but it hasn't all been bad. Here are a few things I love about having Oliver in our lives.
1. He gets us moving. We have been much more productive lately because instead of sitting around in the evenings we have a dog to feed and walk and clean-up after. And by the way, Kyle has been a great help in keeping the house in order. I think he's mopped more in the last month than he had all of last year, and I love him even more for that! ;)
2. He makes us smile and laugh on a daily basis. Oliver is such a goof ball. He's still growing into his body, so we have a great time watching him flop around the house and the yard.
3. He loves us more than anything in the whole world. No matter what, he is ALWAYS excited to see us and drops whatever he's doing to follow us around the house. In the evening, he loves to curl up on the couch with us and watch TV. I don't think he realizes just how large he really is!
4. But my favorite thing of all about owning a dog is seeing how much my husband loves him. They are so cute together. The other day we were on our way home and Kyle had a huge smile on his face. I asked him why and he said, "Oh, I'm just thinking about my dog. I can't wait to get home and see him!"

Oliver is so good at taking baths! We took him to the groomer for the first time and they were shocked at how well he behaved. When we gave it a try at home, we were pleasantly surprised with how smooth it went.
Ready for his walk!
The hardest time of day for us is waiting on Kyle to get home from work. I take him out and try to run out all of his energy, but just as I'm settling down on the couch for a few minutes of peace, he starts rolling around like a crazy dog, wanting to play!
What are you doing in there?
Kyle took him up to the dealership to introduce him to the guys and, as you can see, he made himself at home. Oliver does a great job in the car. It takes him a few minutes to settle down, but once he does, he finds a comfortable spot and stays there until we stop.

He thinks he's a lap dog. Unfortunately, we are about to get new furniture, so his days on the couch are numbered. Dad might have trouble enforcing the new rules!
Waiting patiently for Kyle to get out of the shower.
