Through the eyes of a child

It is so much fun hanging out with my nephews because it gives me a new perspective on otherwise ordinary things. Watching them discover and delight in these things is so much fun! Their excitement is contagious even for us old folks. :)

A great example of this occurred in September when we got to take Henry to his very first OSU game. Kyle and Greg had planned to go to OSU's home opener alone, but we got some extra tickets, so us girls and Henry decided to join them. We were a little worried Henry might not like it, considering the heat, loud noises and length of the game. But we were all pleasantly surprised when he seemed to be having the time of his life!

It did take him a little bit to adjust to the sounds of the stadium. On the way there, I was holding him when the band walked right by us. When the drums started playing, his face was priceless! He got over that, though, and sat on Greg's lap, clapping and doing his version of the waving wheat through most of the first and second quarter. He was getting a little cranky after that and because the game was a blowout, we decided to cut him a break and leave early so he could get some rest for our trip to the zoo the next day.

Henry is really growing up! Uncle Kyle got tired carrying him to the game.

 Here they come. Go Pokes!

 Cheering on the Cowboys!

Why do you keep taking pictures of me, Aunt Abby?

I just love Henry's crazy face in this one! Kyle bought a bucket of popcorn for us to share, but once Henry laid his eyes on it, he thought it should be all his.

Then we took the popcorn away and it was Mommy's turn to hold him.

You've got to be kidding if you think you're getting a smile until I get my popcorn back...

 Now I'm happy again!

The next morning we got up and headed to the Oklahoma City Zoo for a day of fun. It had been years since Kyle and I had been there, and we were pleasantly surprised with how nice it was. Henry can tell you all kinds of animal sounds, so it was fun to watch him see the animals in real life and make the sound/action that goes with each.

 Checking out the giraffes.

We met Greg and Stacie's friends at the zoo and luckily they told us all the good spots to go. We got a very good view of the elephants.

After the zoo we went to Bricktown to eat, but Henry was exhausted! The poor little guy was way off his schedule, but I'm so glad we got to have so much fun with him that weekend!

Peace out!
