2 Months And Counting...


Month two got off to a bit of a rocky start thanks to some nursing issues. Fortunately,  we were able to adapt and got to do some pretty fun things. That included Decker's first trip to Kansas! 

Week 5 
  • Decker attended his first service at Life.Church. He did great and slept the whole time.
  • We tried (unsuccessfully) to transition off the nipple shield, which led to much longer nursing sessions. We were both worn out! 

  • He outgrew his smaller newborn outfits/sleepers and wore his coming home outfit for the last time.

  • He is now startled by sounds (mainly Oliver barking at imaginary things outside)!
  • Decker is pretty much bald on top but his hair on the sides is long enough to tuck behind his ear. It's a great look!


Week 6 
  • Decker's eyes began changing to brown. They seem to still go back and forth, but they got much darker this week.
  • He started sleeping 8 hours a night regularly. (We are spoiled!) 
  • He loves to take trips to visit Mommy's and Daddy's coworkers. 
  • Decker met Grandma and Grandpa Donahue for the first time. And while we were in Hennessey, we discovered he like a traditional swing. He was content in it for almost 45 minutes! 
  • Mamo and Poppy watched Decker while Kyle surprised me with a 31st birthday party at Nagoya. 

Week 7 
  • No more newborn sleepers! Decker graduated to 0-3 month clothes this week. 
  • He attended his first birthday party. Happy 2nd birthday, Blakely! 
  • Decker met Uncle Greg, Aunt Stacie, Henry and Ella for the first time. 


 Ella loved his feet and took his socks off every chance she got! :)

  • He started really focusing on objects. His favorite things to look at are the owl on his bouncer and the curtains in his nursery. 
  • He loves to kick his legs and does so every time we set him down. 
  • He and Daddy are best buds!
 Watching Motocross. Daddy is trying to get him hooked at an early age! 


Decker loves to look at himself. 
  • Decker made his first trip to the Farm to visit Grandma and Grandpa Donahue. 


  • Happy St. Patrick's Day! 


Week 8 
  • Decker started finding his feet. 
  • He loves to be worn either in his Moby wrap or his sling. We go on walks with Oliver almost every day. 

  • Decker made his first trip to Ponca City for a play date with Nana, Papa and the Paynes. We popped in to see Ethan and Elijah on our way home. This boy loves his cousins on both sides! 




 Elijah loved holding Decker. We had a great time seeing their new house, and we even got to enjoy some cookies fresh out of the oven! Yumm.

The Tuesday before last, I left for a trip to Chicago. The annual ADRP conference was there this year and while I've been in the past, this year was different because our ENTIRE team went. There were seven of us in all, and we had so much fun together! Chicago is a place I've never really been dying to visit. I haven't been opposed, it just wasn't on the top of my list. However, after going there, I definitely want to go back. It's a very clean city and there is so much to do and so many wonderful things to see. Kyle and I will have to plan a trip there some day. If I learned one thing this trip it was that I work with the most awesome people! On the airport parking shuttle on our way home we met a lady. I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned this before, but I LOVE the first Sex and the City Movie. The second, not so much, but I’m pretty sure everyone in America agrees with me on that one. I watched it while I was sick last week. In the movie, there’s an exchange between Carrie and Big that goes a little something like this: C: “Have you ever written me a love letter?” B: “Does a love fax count?” C: “When have I EVER gotten a love fax?” B: “Oh, I'm sure my secretary sent you one...at some point. What can I tell you, baby? It's just not my style. Besides, those guys had to write. They were separated from their loves by wars and hundreds and hundreds of miles. I'm right here. Hello. You make me very happy.” C: “Yeah, yeah. Put it in writing.” Comic genius. Anyway, that got me thinking that Kyle and I rarely ever stop to focus on what we love about each other. Unfortunately we spend far too much time pointing out things we wish the other would do differently....

Spring Break

Contrary to popular belief, the OSU Foundation is not closed during spring break. In fact, we are open on most of the university-specific holidays. However, I was fortunate to be able to take 1 1/2 days off to spend a little time with the family during their break. My parents, Zach, Stacy and Asher had planned to visit my Donahue grandparents in Kansas, so I decided to tag along. Poor Kyle had to work, but he also got to spend the weekend with Greg and Stacie. They took him to a Thunder game and then out for golf on Saturday. They also found some basketball video game Greg and Kyle used to play as kids so that entertained them for most of Saturday evening. Stacie sent me this photo. They won with a dunk during the final seconds of the game. I think they're excited! :) Back on the farm, we got to spend a little time with Landon, who is now 6 months old.
