Meeting Maegan

When Zach came home for Christmas, we found out he was dating someone. As you can imagine, we were excited for him and wanted to know ALL about her. He found this very annoying, but, fortunately for us, he was still willing to let us meet her.
He came for a visit in early June and brought Maegan along. There's nothing like meeting your boyfriend's parents for the first time and then having to stay at their house for six days with no escape. I'm sure there were plenty of times when she felt overwhelmed and a little smothered by us, but you never would have guessed it. She fit in so well!

Mom, Dad, Asher and I met Zach and Maegan at the airport and then took them to lunch in OKC. When we got home, we had a few short hours before heading over the Terry and Cheryl's for a pool party with the extended family. This was everyone's first time seeing Olivia, so she pretty much stole the show. The next day Grandma and Grandpa Donahue arrived and we spent the day together until it was time for Kyle and I to head back to Stillwater.

We wanted Maegan to feel at home, so we got her this basket of Oklahoma stuff. Dad was mad that we didn't get her anything OU, so we had to incorporate some red to appease him.

Asher was so excited to see baby Olivia.

And Quinn finally got to hold Uncle!

Fun in the sun.

It is becoming a bit of a mad house when most of the great grandkids get together. Now I'm starting to understand why Grandpa and Grandma built on a big room so they could exile us to it!

Fenley, Ethan and Elijah had so much fun together.

And Maegan made fast friends with the little ones.

Quinn was OBSESSED with Elmo. She is trying to turn him on in this picture. Poor girl wasn't feeling very well because of an ear infection. She ran a fever almost the whole time Zach was home.

This was Zach's first time meeting Olivia.

And there was just enough time to sneak in a few family photos.

Such pretty blue eyes!

I went to work on Monday, and Zach, Maegan, Josh and Stacy met me afterward so we could give Maegan a tour of OSU. It ended up being pretty good for Zach and Stacy, too, since so much has changed over the past few years. After that, we went out for dinner and hit the strip. It was pretty dead being that it was a Monday night in the summer, but I'm getting old, so I actually prefer it that way.

I had the rest of the week off for my LASIK appointment (which never actually happened, but I'll update you about that later), so Zach and Maegan stayed the night. We went golfing the next day, and I found out it was Maegan's first time. And when I say first time, I mean first time EVER. No mini golf or anything! So us girls drove the carts while the boys did the golfing.

Kyle had a little trouble on a few of the holes.

After that, we headed to Hennessey for several days of rest and relaxation. Maegan is a game player (thank goodness!) so we played lots of Telestrations, golf (with cards) and Qwirkle. We also got to visit the pool a few times and even squeezed in a game of volleyball before the trip was over.

Asher loved hanging out with the big kids after his sister left to go to bed. He even got to stay over two nights.

It was also Maegan's first time on a 4-wheeler.

Finally a smile from this little girl.

Josh wasn't around all week because he spent every waking hour not at work putting up this fence. It was slow going, but it looks great. Asher has found a new love for climbing and wants to scale anything and everything in his path.

Time for s'mores!

Quinn loves trying on other people's shoes. Even her pool can't distract her from her favorite hobby.

Before we knew it, it was time to take them back to the airport. Maegan grew up in Colombia and Tyrus and Lisa knew of a good Colombian restaurant in OKC, so they met us there for our last meal with them before saying goodbye. Maegan said the food was pretty good, especially the empanadas, which were my favorite!

It was a small place but Tyrus and Lisa called ahead so we could all sit together.

Asher was supposed to be saying goodbye to Uncle, but he's easily distracted by birds.

It was sad seeing them go, but we've planned a trip to DC in October, so it will only be a few months before we see them again. And next time, we'll get to meet their dog, Sampson.
