Getting Fit

Image
This weekend was full of fun and plenty of Olympics viewing for Kyle and I - even though we were apart for most of it. He was attending a wedding at Grand Lake while I was in Hennessey throwing a baby shower for one of my childhood friends. It was a good time. One of my low points was watching all of those perfect Olympian six packs. It just reminded me yet again that I am SO not fit! I would probably be in better shape if synchronized swimming was still a part of the Olympic games. My cousins and I used to train for that in Grandpa's pool, and we had a pretty good routine if I don't say so myself. I'm sure we'd be in London right now if this world was just. But I digress... Earlier this month I had a health assessment for my insurance at work. It was a very eventful day, and I MAY have passed out from the finger prick (Yet again. Heaven help me!). However, as I was coming to and looking at my results, I realized I am in the ideal category for everything but ...

Happy Surprises

Every now and then you get a little something you weren't expecting. It might not be earth-shattering but it makes life a little better. I love those times, and I've definitely been in need of them lately. Last weekend, we went to Hennessey on Sunday so Kyle could get a haircut. Mom and Dad are getting ready to redo the guest bedroom, so they had me go through my cup collection, which was being stored in there. (They continue to insist my stuff come live with me, although I'm pretty sure I'm the only child they're doing this with. Us middle children are so mistreated!) Most of my cups are junk now, but Asher found one cup to be particularly fascinating, so I let him keep it. I remember loving a cup just like this at Kim's house, but it had a frog in the bottom. I have so many memories of sleepovers at the Riddles!   Kim turned 26 this past weekend, so we took a little trip to Eischen's to celebrate. It was SO much fun. Kim, Trey, Krissi, Brandon, Kyle...

"Let's make a video, Aunt Abby."

Asher has pretty much always been obsessed with himself! :) For years he has loved to watch videos of himself, but now he's into making the video. A couple of weekends ago that's what he wanted to do before bed. I love that silly boy!

Whirlwind

It's been a bit since my last update, although I'm not quite sure how that happened. Life has been a little challenging the past few weeks, but I can see light at the end of the tunnel! Here is a little photo journey of the fun you've missed.  We spent a weekend in Mulvane in June and got some much-needed nephew time!   Henry loves being up in the air and Uncle Kyle loves making him smile!   What's in here Nana? Henry is pretty steady when sitting up now and he is very curious! He also loves to give kisses!   What a little cutie! The Fox Family at Kyle's favorite restaurant.  Aunt Jerilyn got this jumper for Henry and he was going to town!  Asher playing in his playroom the night before we moved Stacy and Josh. I think in just less than three years, that boy has lived in more houses than I have my entire life! I bet Josh and Stacy are sick of moving!   Asher in Uncle's glasses....

Farewell for now

Well yesterday was Zach's much-anticipated departure for boot camp. It's something I think the whole family has been dreading since Zach told us he was going to join the Army. It seemed so far into the future at first but the day definitely snuck up on us. It's such a mix of emotion because while we are extremely proud of the life he is choosing for himself and very happy for him, we are also sad because we know this commitment will make his physical presence more scarce for the next five years. Growing up Zach was the quiet, youngest brother who always got the short end of the stick. Or at least that's how it seemed to his even-more-mistreated sister who was one of the dreaded middle children! It is amazing to see how we've changed over the years. Of all of the siblings, I think Zach's transformation into adulthood has been the most surprising. He has grown up to be such a good man. (Not that we ever doubted he would be!) He is someone who will do anythin...
