Welcome to the World, Decker!

We checked into the hospital just after 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 26. Our night nurse, Tori, came in and introduced herself before getting all kinds of information from me for my chart. She mentioned it was a good thing we were here tonight since Dr. Shreck would be out of the office the entire next week. Kyle and I were shocked and said at the same time, "So THAT'S why he wanted to induce us." It was all making a little more sense now, but I wasn't thrilled about that omission. They gave me cervidil that night to prepare for my induction in the morning. They also hooked me up to two monitors, one for the baby's heartbeat and the other to monitor my contractions. These monitors would end up being a nuisance throughout the night since they'd stop reading each time I turned over. That meant the nurse had to come in and adjust them. As you can imagine, that's not great for your sleeping schedule. After two attempts, they finally got my IV in place, so...

Awaiting Baby Fox

As my due date drew closer, I kept waiting for that moment when I would feel absolutely miserable. Fortunately, it never came. I would say that overall, I had a very easy pregnancy. My biggest "complaint" was not getting as much sleep as normal, but I think my body needed that to adjust to our new schedule around here! But, I'm getting ahead of myself. As they were getting all of our info and telling us what to expect, Kyle and I looked at each other. I can't quite describe our shared sentiment but it was somewhere in between excitement, disbelief and sheer terror. In that moment, it hit us that this was actually happening. In a matter of weeks, we would be checking into the hospital as a family of 2 and leaving as a family of 3. Were we ready? Could we handle everything that was co...

Party Poopers

With the arrival of baby Fox literally right around the corner, we have missed out on some fun celebrations lately. But I couldn't let these milestones pass without at least documenting them here. The first was Henry's 5th birthday! It doesn't seem possible that I have another nephew crossing the 5-year-old threshold. Where did all the babies go? Henry is such a grownup these days. Stacie sent me pictures from his first basketball game just yesterday! He still loves his monster trucks and cars, and has added super heroes to the mix. That was the theme of his bowling birthday party. We were able to face time him that night. He was all excited about his gifts and said he had a great time. I don't have any pictures from the party, but here are a few from the morning of his special day. Quinn's Elsa-themed party is this afternoon. Ever since she got an Elsa dress for Christmas, she has really enjoyed playing dress-up. She turned 3 this month! I knew we p...
